Couched in mystery

Anyone out there know of a good furniture store in northern VA? We're on the lookout for a new couch and, so far, we haven't really found anything we like that's in our price range. We're not totally cheap, but we don't want anything too expensive. So far we've only pretty much looked at Belfort and the Room Store. Help?

Road trip!

Since it was such a gorgeous day, we decided to pick out one of the road trips that the Washington Post has had in its Sunday paper for a little while. We collected a few that looked interesting, picked one that wasn't TOO far (since we didn't decide to go until, like, 2:00) and set off.

Well... we didn't end up making it TOO far down the map. It was a lot more driving than it looked like. But we still had fun. We made it to C.M. Crockett Park and had a great time. It's a big, beautiful park with a pretty big lake. We got in a paddle boat and paddled around for about an hour. Fun fun.

Then we drove a bit more and realized we were a bit hungry, so we went up to the Frost Diner. This was obviously because of Ryan's influence. I had some of the best fried chicken I've ever had there, though. Very tasty.

That was pretty much all we got to do, except for a quick stop at a farmer's market/antique store where they had a pair of very cute 2-1/2 month old kittens that they were giving away. We were tempted (and Sarah got to hold one of them), but it's just too expensive for apartment living.

Hopefully next weekend will be just as nice, so we can pick another one. Or try going further on this one. Or just go back to that park.

And here are some pictures of the day.

Both Johnny Cash and John Ritter on the same day? Crazy. Not that I was a huge fan of either, but this is pretty sad. And this the day after I read a blurb that said Cash had just cheated death yet again after being released from a hospital.

This has been a very bad year for celebrities.

Innocence... INNocence...!

I've been a fan of The Innocence Mission for about 12-13 years now. I haven't listened to their CDs as much lately, but I still consider myself a fan. I've never ever seen them perform live before. But soon that will change.

Not only are they coming to one of my favorite places to see a show, but they're doing it on my birthday. Happy happy!

Faster faster!

Woo. Soon I'll be upgrading my DSL from 608/128 to 1.5/256 for the same price. The installation kit is supposed to come today and the loop install is supposed to be done tomorrow. Just have to get a couple more filters and get everything all finished up and I'll finally have a decent connection. And then hopefully stupid meanies will stop complaining about me having a low ping when I try to join their games. :P

The Doctor is in!

This is some of the best news I've heard all day. Sure, it's only 10am, so maybe that's not such a big deal, but still... this is big big good news.

Yes, I'm a geek.
