Still working on getting all the Movable Type templates switched over to looking like the rest of my site, but I'm getting there. Only a few more to go and then I can get to the business of making sure everything's all set up correctly and tweaking things and such.

Tonight was the premiere episode of Aaron Sorkin's new show, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Though I can't say I loved it to pieces, I really liked it. Good cast and a neat idea for a show. These kinds of shows take a bit of time to really get rolling and you could tell that this was a pilot episode. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this one. Plus, unlike House, this show's on an HD channel that comes in well, so I can actually watch it without swearing at the TV whenever the picture or sound drop out during the middle of a very important something.

Sorry. Can't afford cable.

Anyhow... I recommend the show. Give it a watch.

Hi! I'm returning to blogging. After 5 or 6 years being on the same server, I was just moved to a newer, faster machine with newer software on it, so I could install the latest and greatest MovableType, among other things. I've been in the midst of redesigning my page anyhow, so I figured this was a good enough time to go ahead and do everything at once. Most of the rest of my pages are done now, but they're hidden because there are no links to them at the moment. I also need to redesign the look of the blog page to match that of the new look of my other pages. So... bear with me. It'll all happen eventually. This looks pretty for now as it is. Probably prettier than what I'll come up with, even. But we'll see how we do.

Yesterday I had such a wonderful day.

While driving along on the way to work, I guess I got a bit too close to the side of the road and hit a huge pothole that I normally wouldn't have (I saw the hole on the way into work this morning and it was deep). This caused me to get a flat tire. Thankfully, I had a spare and a jack and I managed to change the tire myself. This was my first time, so it was very exciting.

So after work, I took my car to a shop to have it looked at and my worst fears were confirmed. I'd bent the rim, so I needed to get a new wheel. So now I'm hunting for a new wheel for my li'l Saturn. And then I can either get the old tire patched or get a new one. Either way, it's probably not going to be cheap.

Whee.

I think I've finally joined Ryan in hating Best Buy and I'm not sure if I'll ever shop there again, even if it's the only place in the universe that has what I want or need.

So I went there to buy a flash drive for Sarah because she desperately needed one for a school project. I bought a 512MB one and brought it back to Sarah. I then checked their web site and saw that the price on there said it should've been on sale for $20 cheaper. I go back to Best Buy with my receipt and a print out of the web page and go to customer service. I present the documents to them and ask for an explanation. They tell me that the price online tends to be lower than in the store. I then tell him that you can buy online and then pick it up in the store, so that makes no sense. So he tells me that if I buy it online, I'm not actually buying it from the store I'm picking it up at. Even though it comes out of their inventory.

...

This made no sense to me whatsoever and I think it's a stupid way to do business. You can't tell me that Best Buy and bestbuy.com are two separate entities. What I was being told here was that if I'd ordered it online for store pickup and waited for someone in that store to grab it off the shelf for me and slap a sticker on it, then I would've gotten the sale price. That's insane.

I don't care if it's their policy or whatever. It's stupid. And it's really stupid to treat a loyal customer that way, in my opinion. So... screw you, Best Buy.

I've started having my recurring school dream again. I'm in college and I've forgotten to go to a class all semester. I explain to people that it's hard for me to remember which classes I have on Monday, since I have so many of them. It's always English class. And I'm always explaining it to people I went to high school with, instead of people I went to college with. This time I finally went to class on some random day and we were having a big test. Ooops.

This time, another dream mixed in with this one slightly. I often dream that I've forgotten to check my mail all semester and I finally do and I have all these packages and pieces of mail. It's wacky.

Last night I had a new dream where all these girls I went to high school with showed up at this weird place where you could buy breakfast and coffee and stuff. One of them had colored her hair orange, was wearing orange clothes, and had orange contacts. None of these girls would've had anything to do with me in high school. :P

Been quiet around here, I know. Nothing exciting has been going on. Not that that's stopped me before, of course.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, I surprised Sarah with a night out at the 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church on Friday. It was a bit pricey, but it's a really nice place with a lot of atmosphere and hospitality, so it was worth it. Sarah really liked it and liked being surprised. Well... she knew we were going SOMEwhere. She just didn't have any idea where. And I managed to keep it to myself for over a week, which is a miracle.

On Sunday, we went to a Tet Party that Ryan and Huyen were throwing at Four Sisters in the Eden Center. Parking was outrageously terrible and people that go there need to learn some parking lot etiquette. Otherwise, though, the party was oodles of fun. Great food and good company.

I've had a lingering cold that varies in severity daily. Today it seems to be O.K. Just a little stuffed up at the moment. What will tomorrow bring? :P

Our cats are mentally deranged. They seriously are. The female, Audrey, will be purring away as if she's having a wonderful time. Then she'll turn around leisurely and bite whoever's petting her. She also hobbles around like she's drunk and is probably the least graceful cat I've ever seen. When climbing up on the furniture, she often misses where she intends to land and barely hangs on for dear life. Which I'm sure doesn't do good things for the furniture.

Sebastian is a little terror. He hasn't attacked my legs in quite a while now, but he still attacks Audrey. And not in a playful way. He also tears up the furniture. But the insane thing he does is he just suddenly starts meowing like crazy and running around all over the house. Or he'll sit upstairs meowing when we're downstairs, as if he's forgotten where we are. He's a very silly cat. He also has to be there whenever you're doing ANYthing. Cooking dinner, walking, going to the bathroom... anything.

We were thinking of getting rid of them for a while, especially after Audrey bit Sarah hard (the wound didn't properly heal for over a week). But we love them and we'll probably keep them.

So I'm growing a beard. I've never had one before. Since my facial hair grows so quickly (I have a 5:00 shadow at noon), I figured I might as well give it a shot and see what happens. It looks O.K. so far, but I have to learn to trim and groom the thing properly. My hair's so wavy, it might get out of control if I just let it run free and wild. I'll have to put up a picture once it fills out a bit more.

Nothing else is going on. Nothing at all. O.K., that's not true. But there's nothing else for me to write about. Not that the beard was a major thing, either, but I haven't written ANYthing on here in a long time, so I figured I might as well share my beard with the world.

O.K. I'm not really. I'm 29 going on 30. In about a week and a half. So there.

I'm actually not all that concerned about turning 30. I think any concern comes from the fact that EVERYone dreads turning 30, so I'm just bowing to peer pressure a little bit by talking it up. I doubt 30 will be all that different from 29. I'll keep aging. My hairline will keep receding. All that stuff. I'm not one of those people that had all these things I wanted to do before I hit 30. Though I've been told not having any goals is part of my problem.

Hopefully some time soon, though, I'll actually write stuff in this blog. But for now, this is it...

Well... I've upgraded to MT 3.11 and it looks like everything's going well. I still have to tweak some stuff and the registered comments using TypeKey isn't quite working right (some Perl issue), but I like how it's stopped the comment spam very much.

Sarah and I are all moved into our new townhouse. We're still in boxes, especially because we want to make sure the mice are gone, but we should hopefully get out of those soon. We can only hope!

We now have two cats. The male is a cream-ish/orange-ish domestic long hair named Sebastian and the female is a brown-ish/black-ish tabby domestic short hair named Tigger. Since Tigger's not really a female name and it doesn't suit her at all, we're trying to change the name to Audrey (after Hepburn, since she's a rather classy kitty).

Other than that, work's just been extremely busy, so I've been bad with e-mail, phone calls, blogging, etc. Hopefully things will calm down soon and I'll feel rested again. Until then... I'll tweak the MT templates until they work right on both blogs and probably leave this space pretty blank. :P
